Fully Funded our K-12 Schools
Mike Thompson has voted consistently to fund our schools at constitutional levels, with bipartisan legislation signed into law by Governor Kelly. The efforts were so successful the Kansas Supreme Court released the famous Gannon case, removing the cloud of litigation.
Investing in Special Education
As part of fully funding our schools, Mike Thompson voted to devote more dollars to special education at unprecedented levels and voted to establish a key task force to ensure that special education funding is at appropriate levels and getting to where it needs to be.

Helping Growing School Districts
Mike Thompson successfully fought to improve the school finance formula to ensure that growing school districts, such as USD 232, receive the amount of funding to match their ever-increasing enrollment. This new compromise was signed into law in 2024.
Targeted Scholarships to Give Parents Flexibility
As part of his student-focused efforts, Mike Thompson voted to ensure that there are scholarships available to provide lower-income parents flexibility to ensure their kids have maximum opportunity to succeed.
